Overview
There are many challenges associated with Point-of-care testing (POCT), mainly related to quality assurance. On any given day, an inefficient POCT workflow can lead to pitfalls such as overburdened staff, manual transcription errors, and loss of revenue. At Bumrungrad International Hospital, a tertiary care private hospital in Thailand, their POCT service and test volume has grown significantly in recent years. In 2018, the hospital’s POCT service consisted of over 70 devices performing six tests and covering over 40 site units. Servicing a testing volume of about 400 test results per day, performed by over 800 POCT users.
