Mark E. Ladd, head physicist at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, provided key input when the first 7 Tesla MRI systems for research purposes were installed at University Hospital Essen and in Heidelberg in the 2000s. Since then, he has played a major role in further developing 7 Tesla imaging.
