Integrated Drone Delivery Enabling Access to Care
Siemens Healthineers and Wingcopter GmbH signed a Memorandium of Understanding to develop and roll out an integrated drone delivery service solution to transport various laboratory diagnostics materials as well as other medical supplies in Africa. This collaboration aims to enhance access to care by combining Siemens Healthineers’ diagnostics capabilities with Wingcopter’s drone services, ensuring faster treatment and improved diagnostics. The solution will leverage advanced digital technology for automated drone delivery and accurate tracking of results.
How do drones work to enable more access to care?
Wingcopter’s battery-powered drones will facilitate quick, automated delivery of medical samples and supplies over a 75-kilometer range, maintaining the cold chain. This efficient network will centralize sample testing and distribution, improving diagnosis access, reducing turnaround time, increasing efficiency, and lowering costs. This drone delivery solution will enhance diagnostic accessibility and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by reducing carbon footprints, minimizing road accident risks, and building local capacity in drone operations.
