ARTIS icono in clinical practice
“ARTIS icono ceiling offers improved precision in image guidance. The fast and versatile 3D imaging can be easily adapted to our procedure-specific needs. The new image processing strives for high dose efficiency and brilliant 2k image quality. In my opinion, this system has the potential to be a game changer in IR.”

Clear visualization in super-selective procedures
Our contrast-based exposure control OPTIQ delivers optimal contrast at lowest achievable dose* – for excellent visibility of small vessels and devices in 2D imaging. OPTIQ includes Structure Scout, which tunes the X-ray spectrum to best fit the absorption characteristics of the device material used.
OPTIQ DSA is designed to improve visibility in DSA images by likewise enhancing sharpness and contrast without increasing noise.
*Within the possible ARTIS exposure parameters and given hardware configuration as well as status of SID, collimation, and grid.
Simple and precise 3D imaging, everywhere
Generate 3D acquisitions with excellent spatial and soft tissue resolution whatever your clinical case. With 95°/s rotation speed, ARTIS icono systems can acquire syngo DynaCT images in just 2.5 seconds, which means fewer motion artifacts1.
Simple and precise 3D imaging gives you confidence in procedure planning. Intra-procedural syngo DynaCT can also help reduce the risk of unwanted side effects such as non-target embolization.
ARTIS icono ceiling combines these benefits through the Omni Spin C-arm for a high level of flexibility during interventional procedures. For more on Omni Spin, click right.

Omni Spin
ARTIS icono ceiling is equipped with Omni Spin, optimizing flexibility, speed, and precision to enhance workflows and image quality across the full volume.
Omni Spin delivers accurate 3D acquisitions with high soft-tissue resolution and up to 2.4 meters of coverage from any rail positions – with full 200° rotation from all sides.
syngo DynaPBV Body
The ARTIS icono family is equipped with syngo DynaPBV Body, which complements anatomical imaging with physiological information. It enables 3D-based blood volume imaging, which helps determine the specific characteristics of each individual lesion and lets you observe how tumor perfusion changes as a result of your therapy.
This unique software can be used for monitoring response to treatment following repeated TACE and has the potential to identify non-responders directly in the angio suite.
Smart guidance for intra-procedural confidence
ARTIS icono systems come with smart guidance tools, such as syngo Embolization Guidance, that assist you with semi-automatic identification of feeder vessels and anatomical navigation, for example when you are treating liver tumors (TAE, TACE, SIRT) or benign prostatic hyperplasia (PAE).
The semi-automatic detection of feeder vessels is possible for contrast enhanced syngo DyncaCT or MDCT datasets.
syngo Embolization Guidance
In treatment of liver tumors, syngo Embolization Guidance automatically detects a catheter that is positioned in a hepatic artery. It then automatically computes a vessel tree starting at the catheter position and comprising vessel branches that feed a user-defined lesion.*
Predefined color coding facilitates finding the optimal treatment position for each tumor nodule.
* The user must check the final vessel tree.

The versatility of ARTIS icono floor
ARTIS icono floor has a multi-axis stand and fully automated motorized positioning system that quickly moves the system into reproducible positions to give you optimal patient access for any interventional procedure, as well as space for other equipment and team members. Lateral coverage of 1.9 m supports radial access, dialysis shunts, and more. 2.1 m of longitudinal coverage enables peripheral 2D imaging without repositioning the patient. Furthermore, the parking position is distant, which is ideal in emergencies.

Insights on image quality and usability from clinical practice
“The system has brilliant image quality. For example, if you want to see liver arteries or the lower extremity arteries in detail, you can see the small arteries very nicely. And the system is very silent which is quite nice for the Interventional Radiologist trying to keep his mind on the patient.”
Prof. Jan Hinrichs, MD, Hannover Medical School, Germany
ARTIS icono – An allrounder in the IR facility

Transarterial chemoembolization of a liver tumor
Selective internal radiation therapy
Selective internal radiation therapy
Prostate artery embolization
Balloon angioplasty in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension
Peripheral artery disease
Arteriovenous malformation of the knee
The clinical benefits of precision in embolization
“All our patients benefit from this new precision, both advanced-stage and – more and more – early-stage patients. We are selective but also comprehensive. We save healthy liver tissue but also treat the whole tumor. We should never forget about the quality of life of our patients. This is why precision – less side effects – is so important.“

Insights on information integration from clinical practice
"The DynaCT images I’ve seen so far are brilliant, even in patients who can't hold their breath. And with DynaCT come a lot of other exciting breakthrough applications in IR such as Needle Guidance, syngo Fusion, Embolization Guidance and so on; and these are very important tools which have a huge impact on the workflow in IR.”
