Siemens Healthineers is proud to announce the successful installation of two CT scanners in New Brunswick at Horizon Health Network, Miramichi Hospital and Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, marking a significant step in enhancing healthcare access for these communities. These milestones reflect our commitment to advancing medical imaging technology and ensuring high-quality diagnostic services are available to more patients.

Miramichi and its surrounding region, home to a diverse population of 46,000 with three progressive First Nation communities, deep Irish and Scottish roots, and four vibrant Francophone communities, will now benefit from improved access to advanced imaging solutions. The newly inaugurated CT suite, featuring the innovative Siemens Healthineers SOMATOM X.cite with myExam Companion and myNeedle Companion, will enhance diagnostic precision and streamline workflows for healthcare professionals, ultimately improving patient care and health outcomes.

“Investing in this CT scanner at Miramichi Regional Hospital is a notable step in our strategy to improve patient care in the region,” said Jeff Carter, Horizon’s Vice President, Quality, Patient Experience and Professional Services. “This advanced equipment will provide timely and precise diagnostic services, meeting the evolving needs of our patients.”

Similarly, patients and families in Charlotte County now have access to enhanced diagnostic care with the launch of SOMATOM go.Top CT scanner at Horizon’s Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen. This addition was made possible thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation, which raised more than $700,000 during its 2022 radiothon to fund the new scanner.

“Each year, more than 4,200 patients have had to travel over an hour to Saint John for a CT scan—creating potential barriers to timely care and placing strain on both patients and the healthcare system. By reducing the need for travel, we’re not only improving patient experience but also reducing delays in care, leading to faster diagnoses and treatment,” said Celina Bountalas, Director of Medical Imaging for Horizon Health Network in the Saint John area.

“These achievements underscore our unwavering commitment to delivering healthcare access, ensuring patients receive timely and accurate diagnoses close to home,” said Nicolas Leclerc, Director of Sales, Quebec and Atlantic at Siemens Healthineers. “We are excited to bring this innovation to Miramichi and Charlotte County and support the healthcare professionals in making a lasting impact on patient care.”

Siemens Healthineers remains steadfast in its mission to create sustainable healthcare solutions that enhance patient care across Canada. By continuously innovating and fostering strong partnerships, we are dedicated to bridging healthcare gaps and ensuring more patient touchpoints in communities of all sizes. These milestones in Miramichi and Charlotte County are just one step toward a future where every Canadian, regardless of location, has access to high-quality medical technologies.
