Dili Medical Center and Siemens Healthineers to install Timor-Leste’s first mammography system to improve access to breast cancer care• Making breast screening accessible to support country’s vision in improving breast cancer care

• Country’s first mammography system, MAMMOMAT Revelation, will enable early and accurate diagnosis

• The center will scan 200 women per year with this system

Siemens Healthineers will install MAMMOMAT Revelation mammography system at the Dili Medical Center, which will be Timor-Leste’s first mammography system. A mammography scan is a preferred screening method to examine the breast for early detection of cancer. With 141 new cases in 2022, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the country1.

“Currently, with no mammography system in Timor-Leste, patients with symptoms often travel to neighbouring countries for diagnosis and treatment. By installing this mammography system at Dili Medical Center, we are certainly overcoming the challenge of lack of accessibility to breast screening and are also dealing with managing the high incidences of breast cancer in the country. We are pleased to collaborate with Siemens Healthineers in bringing this system to Timor-Leste and we will be jointly working towards reducing the breast cancer mortality rates in the future.” Said Merry Monteiro, Chief Executive Officer at Dili Medical Center

More than 70 percent of Timor-Leste's total population resides in rural areas2, which makes Dili Medical Center the one of the private clinic who focuses on delivering best healthcare services and diagnostics in the country who is locally owned and run by Timor Leste. Nearly 650,000 women will now have access to high quality mammography screening. The Center will also focus on creating patient awareness and organize screening programs with an aim to screen 200 women per year.

"With this partnership, we are living our purpose of pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare for everyone, everywhere, sustainably. It is very fulfilling to install the country’s first mammography system at Dili Medical Center and helping them in the journey of fighting the leading cancer among women. Our collaboration is a significant step in improving women’s health by providing access to affordable cancer care in Timor-Leste, and it will continue in the future," said Alfred Fahringer, Country Head at Siemens Healthineers Indonesia.

MAMOMMAT Revelation is a state-of-the-art mammography system renowned for its exceptional image quality, low radiation dose, and ensuring the utmost comfort and safety for patients during breast screenings.
