Manuel Romero-Gómez, MD, is a professor of medicine at the University of Seville and director of the Digestive, Liver and Inflammatory Diseases Program at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville and UCM Digestive Diseases at Virgen del Rocio University Hospital, Seville, Spain.

Prof. Romero-Gómez has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers on gastrointestinal and liver diseases. He has 10 registered patents and has participated as a principal investigator in more than 20 competitive grants for research. He serves as coordinator of the Spanish Registry of NAFLD/NASH and co-coordinator of the EASL-supported European Registry of NAFLD. In 2016, he was awarded the Medal of The City of Seville.
