CT Angiography
In stroke diagnosis, CT angiography (CTA) provides high-resolution images of intra- and extra-cranial, as well as cervical blood vessels. Together with the ability to localize and evaluate ischemic and hemorrhagic brain areas, CTA allows for a quick and reliable identification of arterial stenosis or occlusion. Thanks to detailed visualization of basilar arteries and plaque morphology, CTA enables a profound evaluation of brain circulation and differential analysis of vascular lesions.
Siemens assists you with latest CT scanner technology, imaging and analysis software, and highly efficient workflows to provide fast and evidence-based care to your stroke patients.
MR Angiography
State-of-the-art MR scanners allow for plain (non-contrast) or contrast-enhanced visualization of intra- and extra-cranial blood vessels mandatory for the evaluation of patients with acute stroke. MR angiography (MRA) can be combined with diffusion-weighted (DWI) and perfusion MR imaging (PWI) in a single examination providing comprehensive information on ischemic or hemorrhagic brain condition and stroke cause within minutes. Furthermore, contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA) is a highly sensitive and specific non-invasive vascular imaging technique for carotid stenosis.
Siemens MAGNETOM MR scanners, imaging software, and streamlined workflows help you provide fast evidence-based diagnosis and immediate brain-saving therapy for your stroke patients even without the application of contrast agents.
X-ray Angiography
Intra-arterial X-ray angiography and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in 2D and 3D are the classical diagnostic procedures to visualize intra- and extra-cranial blood vessels. Intra-arterial and intra-venous angiography combines excellent diagnostic output with the ability to immediate therapeutic intervention in a single procedure. It is the diagnostic and therapeutic tool of choice if the need for vascular intervention is clear or probable.
Siemens provides you with state-of-the-art X-ray angiography devices, flexible streamlined workflows, and advanced imaging applications to bring fast and precise care to your patients.
Ultrasound Cerebral Angiography
Ultrasound Cerebral Angiography is used in acute stroke evaluation, providing a useful tool for patients who cannot manage a MR or CT angiography or when a quick evaluation is needed.
Transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) and carotid Doppler/ Duplex ultrasound provide non-invasive imaging of the main cerebral arteries at the base of the skull and the carotids. Ultrasound cerebral angiography can be supported by administering contrast agents, and may be combined with magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) for a visualization comparable to digital subtraction angiography (DSA). It has proved to be effective and reliable in monitoring the outcome of recanalization therapy.
For optimized and accurate evaluation of your stroke patients, Siemens provides you with highly efficient ultrasound systems, automated applications, and simplified workflows for cerebral angiography.
