Siemens Healthineers recently hosted a clinical symposium titled “Advanced Innovation Update: Dual Energy CT & Cardiovascular Imaging” on May 24, 2024, in Quang Ninh, Vietnam.
Organized prior to the annual congress of the Vietnamese Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, this symposium marked the first collaboration between Siemens Healthineers and Bayer in Vietnam.
The symposium was attended by several esteemed representatives from Siemens Healthineers and Bayer Vietnam, including Mr. Surajkumar Chandrasekharan, Head of Diagnostic Imaging, Siemens Healthineers ASEAN, Mr. Fabian Martin Singer, General Manager, Siemens Healthineers Vietnam and Ms. Ye Won Kwak, Country Head Radiology, Bayer Vietnam, as well as participants from across the country.
Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Loi, President of the Vietnam Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, the expert speakers included:
- Dr. Lynette Teo, Senior Consultant, Department of Diagnostic Imaging, National University Hospital, Singapore
- Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Trang, Vice President of the Vietnam Society of Cardiovascular Imaging
- Dr. Phan Cong Chien, Radiologist of University Medical Center, HCMC
- Assoc. Prof. Monravee Tumkosit, Radiologist of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thailand
Throughout the session, the speakers shared valuable insights and real-world applications in clinical cases, effectively updating the participants with relevant knowledge in their field.

Drawing on her extensive clinical experience, Dr. Lynette Teo provided a comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular imaging technology and techniques. Through the presentation of unique patient cases spanning various ages and malformations, she highlighted the applications of Dual Source CT in clinical practice. This demonstration underscored the pivotal role of Dual Source CT in cardiovascular imaging while also highlighting the advantages of Photon Counting CT technology in comparison with conventional CT, showcasing its ability to streamline scanning processes, alleviate workload for medical professionals, and deliver precise results efficiently.
Next, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Trang delivered a presentation centered on the latest advancements in Dual Energy CT technology and its implementation within Vietnamese medical facilities. Emphasizing the significance of this state-of-the-art technology, the presentation highlighted its role in enhancing diagnostic imaging and improving patient outcomes.
In the presentation that followed, Dr. Phan Cong Chien highlighted both the advantages and potential pitfalls of Dual Energy CT technology. Through this comprehensive approach, he offered valuable insights to the attendees, aiding in the avoidance of common errors and enhancing accuracy in diagnosis.
The session concluded with a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monravee Tumkosit who discussed optimizing cardiovascular imaging through workflow improvement.
The informative clinical symposium provided an excellent opportunity for discussion. As the presentations came to a close, participants and lecturers engaged in open exchanges of knowledge through Q&A sessions.
Under the cooperation of Siemens Healthineers, Bayer, and the chairmanship of the Vietnam Society of Cardiology Imaging, the event concluded fruitfully with more than 120 participants.
