The approach of Photon-Counting technology has marked a new era in Computed Tomography (CT) technology, in which redefining clinical capabilities, improving diagnostic accuracy, and expanding the role of CT in clinical decision making. In Vietnam, this is a new technique, requiring research and clinical practice. However, with the recent deployment of Siemens Healthineers’ first Photon-Counting CT, a turning point in diagnostic imaging as well as a premise for the development of radiology and nuclear medicine had been created.
To update and disseminate this technology to radiologists, experts’ communities, on 14 March 2024, Siemens Healthineers, collaborated with the Vietnamese Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (VSRNM), had organized an online webinar on “Photon Counting CT – From theory to clinical practice”.
Managed by Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Thong, Chairman of VSRNM, the 3-hour online webinar guided participants through several sessions, covering the aspects of Photon-Counting CT technology:
- “The advancement of dual-source CT and the challenges in cardiovascular CT” – Lectured by Dr. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Trang – Deputy General Secretary of VSRNM
- Clinical practice of Photon-Counting CT through the view of Cardiologist – Updated by Dr. Nguyen Duc Chinh – Head of Internal Cardiology, Stroke International Services (S.I.S)
- Last but not least, “How Photon-Counting CT changes the approach in Radiology” – Presented by Dr. Nguyen Duong Quoc Anh – Radiologist, S.I.S gave their valuable insights to the participants.
Sharing in the webinar, Mr. Vo Hoang Tri, Head of Imaging & Digital Health, expressed his dearest grateful. “Since its first introduced more than 50 years ago, CT technology had been evolving. With the latest is Photon-Counting CT technology, Siemens Healthineers are proud to announce the FDA clearance for the world 1st Photon Counting CT, which Vietnam is among one in the market that had officially deployed this technology. By constantly bringing breakthrough innovations to market, we help healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care, leading to the best possible outcome for patients. Taking this chance, we’re thankful for the opportunity to cooperate with VRSNM in this occasion that enhancing our strong radiologists’ community.”, he said.
The informative webinar was also a great opportunity for discussion. Wrapping up the presentations, participants and lecturer openly exchanged their knowledge via Q&A sessions.
In total, the fruitful online webinar recorded more than 400 participants.
