Siemens Healthineers representatives and the delegation from Vietnam’s National Assembly, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, and the Office of Government had a series of engagements from 11 – 15th March 2024 as part of a US Government-organized study trip to the United States of America. Coincided with the 25th Management Committee Meeting of International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF), the trip sets the stage for groundbreaking U.S. and Vietnam’s strategic partnership to innovate and to overcome challenges in the healthcare.
The IMDRF comprises a voluntary group of medical device regulators whose mission is to strategically accelerate international medical device regulatory convergence to promote an efficient and effective regulatory model for medical devices that is responsive to emerging challenges in the sector while protecting and maximizing public health and safety. This year, the 25th Management Committee meeting was managed by FDA (U.S Food and Drug Administration) from 11 – 15th March 2024.
Focus on the development of a strong healthcare system in Vietnam
The delegation of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, the Office of Government attended the meetings. During the week, a series of engagement activities was organized that created a great opportunity for experience sharing, insightful advice on regulation, and providing practical solutions between countries.
As part of the US Government-organized trip, the delegation participated in a strategic meeting to discuss Vietnamese Medical Device regulations on 13th March. Stakeholders included the U.S Trade and Development Agency, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Vietnamese Embassy in the U.S and representatives from several medical technology companies. Dr. Trinh Hoang Ha, Senior Director, Head of Government Affairs & Access to Care represented Siemens Healthineers Vietnam to facilitate engagements with the Vietnamese Delegation during the business trip. The meeting provided a platform for relationship-building, allowing participants to raise concerns on hot topics in healthcare such as licensing, medical equipment maintenance, and procurement regulations. With this knowledge exchange, it is expected to create effective improvements for healthcare in Vietnam.
Visiting Siemens Healthineers in the US
The Vietnam delegation also visited Siemens Healthineers’ diagnostics facility in Walpole on 14th March. The high-ranking meeting was an opportunity for Siemens Healthineers to showcase its latest innovation and technologies, while introducing eHealth and Varian oncology solutions to the delegation
The field trip to Siemens Healthineers factory, helped to show Siemens Healthineers commitment in driving positive change, in pioneering innovation, and delivering clear value to healthcare systems.
