- S.I.S Hospital will be first hospital in Vietnam to acquire the NAEOTOM Alpha, the world’s first FDA approved Photon-Counting CT Scanner from Siemens Healthineers.
- The NAEOTOM Alpha, with a rotation speed of 250 milliseconds and dual X-ray tubes and detectors (Dual Source), is recognized for its exceptional power, speed, and precision.
- Photon-counting CT technology is a game changer which opens new clinical capabilities, enhances impact in many clinical fields, and expands CT’s role in clinical decision-making.
In a landmark collaboration between Siemens Healthineers and S.I.S Hospital, a leading private healthcare hospital in Vietnam, the cutting-edge NAEOTOM Alpha has been unveiled, marking a significant leap forward in diagnostic imaging. This milestone event witnessed the presence of esteemed guests including Mr. Truong Tan Sang - Former Poliburo Member, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Mr. Christopher Scholl - Deputy of German Consulate General in Vietnam; Dr. Nguyen Minh Loi - Representatives from Department of Infrastructure and Medical Equipment, Vietnam Association of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, various hospitals in Vietnam, and distinguished journalists.
The NAEOTOM Alpha will introduce the groundbreaking concept of photon-counting technology to the Vietnamese healthcare landscape, showcasing its prowess as the world's premier CT scanner in this category. This game-changing technology, approved by the FDA, is set to redefine clinical capabilities, elevate diagnostic precision, and expand the role of CT scanners in clinical decision-making.
Key Features of NAEOTOM Alpha:
- Photon-Counting Technology: Departing from traditional CT imaging, the NAEOTOM Alpha directly detects each X-ray photon and its energy level, eliminating the need for conventional conversion into visible light.
- Technical Advancements: With a rotation speed of 250 milliseconds and Dual Source configuration (two X-ray tubes and detectors), the NAEOTOM Alpha stands out as a powerful, fast, and precise CT scanner.
- Clinical Benefits: The high scanning speed of NAEOTOM Alpha negates the need for patients to hold their breath or take heart rate-lowering drugs during the scan. Additionally, innovative receiver material technology reduces radiation doses, making routine CT screenings more accessible.
- Enhanced Imaging: The technology's ability to 'count' individual X-ray photons results in clearer, more detailed images, minimizing extraneous information. High resolution reveals even the smallest structures, elevating clinical decision-making confidence.
- Impact in Clinical Fields: Photon-counting technology enhances contrast-to-noise ratio, improves spatial resolution, and optimizes spectral imaging, impacting various clinical fields such as coronary vessel assessment and stent visualization.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Fabian Martin Singer, General Manager of Siemens Healthineers in Vietnam, expressed, "By implementing the NAEOTOM Alpha, Siemens Healthineers will enhance the diagnostic capabilities, improve patient safety, and increases efficiency for S.I.S Hospital. This collaboration ensures meticulous planning, comprehensive service, and training programs for outstanding clinical results, benefitting patients in the Mekong Delta region."
In a parallel development, S.I.S Hospital and Siemens Healthineers signed a master agreement on research collaboration, aiming to accelerate acute stroke protocols using the latest Deep Resolve technique on MRI systems. The partnership seeks to determine the applicability and adequacy of accelerated protocols for clinical use, reinforcing S.I.S Hospital as Siemens Healthineers' reference site in Southeast Asia.
On behalf of S.I.S Board of Directors, Director Dr. Tran Chi Cuong stated: “S.I.S Hospital's commitment, as articulated at the event, is to provide high-quality treatment equal to standards in Europe and the USA at accessible price for the people of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.”
