What are the main duties of your role as a Learning and Development Manager?
To implement processes and policies surrounding Learning and Development. To build environments that embrace learning. To ensure cooperation with internal and external training providers. To ensure development of learning programmes.
What attracted you to work for Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology?
I had previously worked in the Charity Sector and it was important to me to carry on working for a company that helped people and made a difference, as Magnet Technology does.
What does your typical working day look like?
My days are mainly a mixture of meetings and project work. The meetings range from project related to individual 1:1s with managers and employees to discuss their development needs.
If you were to describe the culture of the business in a few words, which four would you use?
Welcoming, ambitious, collaborative, innovative.
What are the greatest challenges you face?
Enacting change across the business; when working in a fast paced environment everyone is busy which can make it tough to tell people they need to follow a new/improved process which they may see as more to focus on. However, it is part of my role to create processes that actually make things easier for managers and employees and show them the benefits of these before implementation.
Can you tell us about a role model who has inspired you over your career?
The ambition and work ethic of my dad has always inspired my when it comes to me career.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
For me it’s helping colleagues reach their full potential and seeing them develop.
Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
I love to practice yoga, go swimming and am a very sociable person often out with friends or family.
