Every year, World Lung Cancer Day is observed on August 1, to create awareness and educate people worldwide about the concerning issues of lung cancer and to advocate for a stronger focus on lung cancer research to enable early detection and treatment of this disease.
To support this initiative on World Lung Cancer Day, Siemens Healthineers will be inviting a diverse assembly of key stakeholders from various sectors to share their valuable research findings, insights, and advocacy efforts related to advancing lung cancer screening. It will also provide a unique opportunity for attendees to gain exposure to global perspectives and learn about best practices in the field, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at raising awareness and enhancing lung cancer screening initiatives.
Topics
The webinar series will span two days, with the first day dedicated to discussions on detection and the second day concentrating on surgery and therapy.

Dr. Sewanti Limaye
Topic - Perspective: APAC coalition against lung cancer
Dr. Sewanti Limaye is the Director of Medical & Precision Oncology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, India, where she pioneered the country's first Precision Oncology clinic and advanced oncology research. With prior roles at Columbia University and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, she specializes in solid tumors and has a strong research background, including a Masters in Cancer Genomics. Dr. Limaye has led international trials, co-founded Iylon Precision Oncology, and received numerous awards. She is currently focused on enhancing Cancer Care and Precision Oncology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
Natthaya Triphuridet, MD, PhD
Topic - Clinician's voice: Integrative Lung Cancer Screening in Thailand
Dr. Natthaya Triphuridet is a pulmonologist and instructor at Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine, Chulabhorn Royal Academy in Bangkok, Thailand. She earned her MD from Khon Kaen University and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from Thammasat University. Dr. Triphuridet completed post-doctoral training in lung cancer screening at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. With significant experience as a principal investigator in integrative lung cancer screening, she has received multiple awards for her research and has served on the IASLC screening and early detection committee. Dr. Triphuridet is also widely published in leading medical journals.
Mr. Norman Ng
Topic - Perspective: Lung cancer patient concern group
Mr. Norman Ng, convener of the Lung Cancer Patient Concern Group in Hong Kong, will share his journey as a lung cancer patient, underscoring the need for comprehensive support from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. His belief in this necessity led to the establishment of the new Lung Cancer Patient Concern Group, dedicated to advocating for improved screening methods using low-dose CT, biomarkers, diagnostics, treatment options, and psychosocial care. The group's mission reaffirms the importance of comprehensive care for lung cancer patients.
Ms. Jana Keller
Topic - Global perspectives on lung cancer screening
Jana Keller is the Market Access Manager at Siemens Healthineers, where she develops reimbursement strategies for medical technologies and advises on reimbursement-related issues for product development, marketing, and sales. She identifies payer opportunities and interacts with medical societies and healthcare authorities on clinical guidance and payment policies. Previously a consultant, Jana has extensive experience in healthcare systems and innovative technology dissemination. She studied public health at the Universities of Erlangen, Maastricht, and the Collège des Ingénieurs. Jana has contributed to NICE’s clinical guidance on AI software in medical imaging and is a member of the SCCT’s Plaque Policy Working Group. She has also been an invited speaker for Vision Zero Oncology and shared her expertise on screening policies in international webinars.
Dr Choo Bok Ai
Topic - Cancer treatment and care - a radiation oncologist's perspective
Dr. Choo Bok Ai is a Radiation Oncologist with over 20 years of experience in cancer care. He graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1998 and obtained his postgraduate internal medicine training qualification from the Royal College of Physicians in London in 2002. Completing his clinical oncology specialist training in 2007 in Birmingham, Dr. Choo is a Fellow of the UK Royal College of Radiologists and the Academy of Medicine Singapore. He is currently the Chairman of the Chapter of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Choo’s practice includes advanced radiation therapy technologies and the treatment of various cancers. He has been a principal investigator in multiple clinical trials, published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, and received numerous awards, including the Singapore Patient Advocate Award and the Healthcare Humanity Award.
Dr. Edmund E. Villaroman
Topic - A surgeon's perspective on lung cancer in the Philippines
Dr. Edmund E. Villaroman is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon specializing in Interventional Bronchoscopy, Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery, and Robotic Thoracic Surgery. He completed his MD and residency at the University of Santo Tomas and fellowship at the Lung Center of the Philippines. As Chairman of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Lung Center of the Philippines and Secretary-General of the SEATS School of Thoracic Surgery, he pioneered minimally invasive thoracic surgery in the Philippines, performing over 250 VATS lobectomies. He is a faculty member of the ASEAN VATS study group, a founding member of the Southeast Asian Thoracic Surgery Society, and a past president of the Philippine Association of Thoracic Cardiac & Vascular Surgery Inc.
Ms. Judy Li
Topic - Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Lung Cancer Care and Access in ASEAN - Insights from the APAC White Paper
Judy is the Manager for ASPIRE (Asia Pacific Policy Review and Engagement) for Lung Cancer. With a strong background in healthcare policy and advocacy, Judy leads ASPIRE's efforts to improve lung cancer care and access across the Asia-Pacific region. She also co-authored the white paper being presented, bringing her extensive experience and insights to the project. Her expertise in coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives and driving policy reforms has been instrumental in advancing ASPIRE's mission. Judy's dedication to fostering collaboration and her in-depth knowledge of regional health systems make her a key figure in the fight against lung cancer in APAC.
Ms. Ariel Lim
Topic - Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Lung Cancer Care and Access in ASEAN - Insights from the APAC White Paper
Ariel is an Associate at ASPIRE (Asia Pacific Policy Review and Engagement) for Lung Cancer, where she focuses on lung cancer advocacy and research. As co-author of the white paper, we'll be discussing during the presentation, Ariel brings valuable insights from her deep dive into healthcare analysis and policy in the APAC region. Beyond this paper, she has also co-authored multiple policy-focused white papers demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of health systems across the region. Ariel's work has shaped impactful healthcare policies and initiatives, ultimately improving lung cancer care and access for patients.
Mr. Ashraf Mohamed
Topic - Precision lung nodule targeting: the growing role of interventional cone-beam CT
Ashraf Mohamed is the Director of Surgery Business Development for Siemens Healthineers in the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, also leading their Lung Cancer activities in the region. He holds an MBA from The National University of Singapore, a PhD and Master's in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University. With 18 years of experience at Siemens Healthineers in the USA, Japan, and APJ, Ashraf is an expert in 2D and 3D imaging for minimally-invasive surgery and interventional medicine, with over 55 publications and 9 USA patents. He collaborates with clinical partners to advance image-guided minimally-invasive surgery, focusing on hybrid operating rooms and advanced mobile C-arms.
