Meeting the growing demand for iliosacral joint fixation
More and more elderly patients, especially those with osteoporosis, are suffering from fragility fractures. Treatment using conventional open fixation surgery involves large wounds, long hospital stays, and a high risk of complications. Percutaneous iliosacral screw insertion is a viable minimally invasive alternative but requires extreme precision, since long screws can injure nerves or arteries if they are not inserted exactly within the planned corridor. ARTIS pheno supports pelvic ring fracture surgery thanks to intraoperative 3D screw path planning and real-time guidance via 2D fluoroscopy. The system also lets you evaluate pelvic ring fracture reduction and screw placement results with cone-beam CT imaging in just 4 seconds.

    Percutaneous iliosacral screw fixation in the Hybrid OR

    Minimally invasive treatment of dorsal pelvic fractures involves a higher risk of misplaced fixation screws. In case of cortical and neuroforaminal perforations, nerves and arteries may be injured. Our assisted Hybrid OR workflow helps reduce these perforations by approximately 15% compared to navigated screw insertion with a mobile C-arm as shown in a study with 61 patients.2
