An estimated 164,690 new cases of prostate cancer accounted for 19% of new cases in men as reported by the American Cancer Society in 2018, bringing Prostate Cancer (PC) to the top of the chart. An estimated 29,430 deaths make it second to Lung & Bronchus cancer accounting for 9% of male cancer death in 2018.¹ Siemens Healthineers will provide a review of the different PSA isoforms available for clinical testing of Prostate cancer (PC) management, as it is an integral part of the patient work-up.

In this webinar, Dr. Monet Sayegh, M.D. provides an overview of Prostate Cancer (PCa) and the clinical utility of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) isoforms. The webinar reviews the current guidelines for PCa management and future advancements in core lab PSA testing.

Speaking on these findings Dr. Monet Sayegh, M.D., will address three main topics:

  • An overview of prostate cancer, clinical utility of prostate specific antigen
  • Ways to improve PSA performance using PSA isoforms
  • Discussing some of the emerging biomarkers that potentially can meet clinical needs, as this may reduce unnecessary interventions that may cause more harm than good

Speaker:

Dr. Monet Sayegh has over 30 years of experience in the fields of medicine, research, abdominal laparoscopic surgery, and clinical laboratory science. His background includes extensive research in immunology/allergy, hematology/oncology, endocrinology, special chemistry, HLA histocompatiblity and maternal screen.

Dr. Sayegh received his Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from the University of Mobile in Mobile, AL. He also holds degrees in medical technology from Anderson Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology in Anderson, SC; a Master of Science in health sciences with an emphasis on hematology/oncology from the American University School of Graduate Studies in Coral Gables, FL; a doctor of medicine from the American University School of Medicine in Coral Gables, FL. His Post- graduate training is in general surgery with emphasis on emergency non-trauma minimally invasive laparoscopic abdominal surgery from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA.

He is a senior clinical consultant and a member of the Disease State Education group at Siemens Healthineers, focusing on cardiovascular, oncology, and infectious diseases.
