The angle makes the difference in tomosynthesis of dense breasts – a radiologist’s view

17.07.18

What impact does the tomosynthesis angular range have on mass conspicuity in patients with dense breasts? To answer this question, Paul Fisher, MD, from Stony Brook, New York, USA and his team conducted a comparative study. They performed tomosynthesis scans for women with heterogeneously or extremely dense breasts using two different digital breast tomosynthesis systems: one with an angular range of 15° and one with an angular range of 50°.
