Columbus Regional Health embarked on a quality improvement journey to streamline patient testing workflow and decrease laboratory costs. However, consolidating POC testing in the core lab presented a major operational shift. To help ensure success, the lab implemented dedicated process control and business analytics software.
Using IT to efficiently manage operations and gain insight into workflow trends has helped the lab to improve:
- Tracking of TAT and priority samples
- Identification and troubleshooting of problematic and clotted samples
- Monitoring of onboard reagents and consumables
