Taking two leaps in one step, together – see how we are accelerating the path from diagnosis to therapy to survivorship.

They divide uncontrollably, tapping into blood vessels and invading neighboring tissues. The malignant cells spread into the body’s organs, bone marrow, or lymphatic vessels, causing one of humanity’s greatest scourges – cancer. Just a few generations ago, doctors and patients were defenseless against its ravages. Today, thanks to modern medicine cancer treatments are getting better all the time, and many cases can even be cured. Siemens Healthineers and Varian are teaming up to shape the future of healthcare by working toward a world without fear of cancer.

More than seven decades of innovation in cancer care, 34 locations around the globe and around 11,000 sharp minds - that's Varian. As a true pioneer in radiotherapy, radiosurgery and many other vital cancer-fighting tools, they have one vision: a world without the fear of cancer.

Every year, over 18 million people develop cancer. According to the World Health Organization, that number may nearly double by the year 2040. In many countries, cancer has become the second most common cause of death after heart disease.1 Decades ago, Siemens Healthineers and Varian both turned battling this illness into the focus of their business. These two global pioneers in the field of medical technology are united by a common aspiration to help people live longer and healthier lives.

Siemens Healthineers and Varian are now combining their strengths by taking a leap in cancer care, and a leap in the impact on healthcare overall to accelerate the path from diagnosis to survivorship in one joint step. United by a common goal to ensure every patient receives the right treatment at the right time, we want oncologists, physicians and clinicians to be as supported as possible to take on the challenges caused by cancer.

Through accelerating our digital and AI-offerings, broadening the scope of our service networks and combining our technology and oncology expertise - we aim to improve how diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, interventional oncology and surgery can be coordinated and combined to fight cancer.

This is a continuation of the 'EnVision' partnership that has been in place since 2012 and aimed to streamline processes from simulation to planning and treatment delivery in radiation oncology. Initial alliances were created with the expansion of multimodal imaging and the connectivity of Siemens Healthineers linear accelerators with ARIA, Varian's Oncology Information System.

United as one company, Siemens Healthineers and Varian will work to develop innovative solutions along the entire patient journey – from initial diagnosis to survivorship. Together, we are better positioned to uncover a world without fear of cancer to help shape the future of healthcare.

"Where you live should not determine how long you live, or how healthy you are", says Bernd Montag, CEO at Siemens Healthineers.
