Siemens Healthineers bietet seine fotorealistische 3D-Visualisierungstechnologie Cinematic Rendering künftig als App für die von Microsoft vor wenigen Tagen vorgestellte HoloLens 2 an. Damit erweitern sich die Anwendungsbereiche der Technologie, die über die Radiologie-Software Syngo.via verfügbar ist. Mit Hilfe dieser Mixed-Reality-Brille können sich etwa Chirurgen bei der OP-Vorbereitung einen realitätsnahen dreidimensionalen Überblick der zu operierenden Körperregion verschaffen statt die klinischen Bilder wie bisher auf einem 2D-Monitor anzusehen. Dies könnte Chirurgen die Wahl der richtigen OP-Strategie erleichtern und so die Präzision des jeweiligen Eingriffs erhöhen. Die hohe Performance des neuen Cinematic-Rendering-Echtzeit-Algorithmus und die fotorealistische Darstellung machen die HoloLens-2-Anwendung besonders leicht erlernbar und für verschiedenste Einsatzzwecke interaktiv nutzbar. Anwendungsgebiete der ersten Version der Brille können die Besucher des Europäischen Radiologiekongresses ECR in Wien in der Siemens Healthineers Digital Experience Hall selbst erleben.
„Die Zusammenarbeit mit Microsoft ermöglicht es, unsere Innovationsführerschaft in der medizinischen Bildgebung und bei der Digitalisierung des Gesundheitswesens weiter auszubauen und Cinematic Rendering einem breiteren Nutzerkreis zur Verfügung zu stellen. Wir sind davon überzeugt, dass die fotorealistische Darstellung klinischer Bilder die Kommunikation zwischen Ärzten und Patienten ebenso erleichtern kann wie die medizinische Ausbildung“, sagt Christian Zapf, Leiter der Geschäftseinheit Syngo bei Siemens Healthineers. Die Prototyp-Applikation „Cinematic Rendering für die Chirurgie“ ist im Rahmen einer klinischen Ergebnisstudie am Universitätsklinikum Erlangen untersucht worden. Die Resultate zeigen, dass Cinematic Rendering die Effizienz der Chirurgen und die Ergebnisse der chirurgischen Planung verbessert. Die teilnehmenden Chirurgen verglichen retrospektiv CT-Aufnahmen mit den entsprechenden Cinematic -Rendering-Darstellungen, um herauszufinden, inwieweit Cinematic Rendering eine schnellere und optimalere OP-Planung erlaubt. Die Cinematic-Rendering-3-D-Darstellungen trugen hier zum verbesserten anatomischen Verständnis bei. Die Fehlerrate sank von 14,1 auf 0,8 Prozent bei den auszubildenden Chirurgen und von 11,1 auf 0,8 Prozent bei den Fachchirurgen.1 „Mit der HoloLens 2 erwarten wir weitere Verbesserungen“, so Christian Zapf.

Nutzer der HoloLens 2 können sich interaktive 3D-Hologramme in ihrer direkten Umgebung darstellen lassen – dabei verschmelzen reale Welt und virtuelle Realität, der Betrachter nimmt das fotorealistische Hologramm als eine im Raum schwebende Projektion wahr. Die Visualisierung der Cinematic-Rendering-Bilder von CT- oder MR-Untersuchungen auf der HoloLens 2 bietet Nutzern den zusätzlichen Vorteil, mit den klinischen Bildern interagieren zu können, sie beispielsweise mit Gesten, Sprache oder Kopfbewegungen zu vergrößern, in sie hineinzuzoomen oder sie zu drehen. Dank eines von Siemens Healthineers neu entwickelten Algorithmus geschieht all dies in Echtzeit.
Die Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Cinematic-Rendering-App sind vielfältig: Mithilfe der HoloLens-2-Anwendung lassen sich komplexe medizinische Fälle leichter mit zuweisenden Ärzten diskutieren, etwa bei besonders herausfordernden anatomischen Gegebenheiten in der Kinderheilkunde oder der Unfallmedizin. Multidisziplinäre Medizinerteams aus Radiologen und Chirurgen können effizienter zusammenarbeiten, wenn sie sich die entsprechenden Körperregionen gemeinsam auf der HoloLens 2 ansehen und direkt am Hologramm miteinander interagieren können. Gerade bei der Planung schwieriger Eingriffe in der interventionellen Radiologie oder der Chirurgie bietet sich Cinematic Rendering als besonders realistische und natürliche Visualisierung an, mit deren Hilfe Ärzte nicht-radiologischer Disziplinen MR- oder CT-Aufnahmen ihrer Patienten betrachten können. Mit der HoloLens 2 sind Anwendungsfälle denkbar wie die Erfassung der exakten Lagebeziehung von Tumorgewebe und Blutgefäßen vor einer Operation sowie das Betrachten des zu operierenden Organs aus allen Winkeln. Dies kann die Wahl der besten OP-Strategie erleichtern und die Präzision der individuellen Behandlung erhöhen.
Weitere Anwendungsgebiete sind die Patientenkommunikation und die Ausbildung des medizinischen Nachwuchses: Dank der fotorealistischen Bildsprache der Cinematic-Rendering-Darstellung fällt es Patienten leicht, Vorgänge in ihrem Körper besser zu verstehen. Gleichzeitig wächst das Verständnis für die Art des anstehenden Eingriffs, eine positive Patientenerfahrung wird so deutlich gestärkt. Bei der Ausbildung des medizinischen Personals bietet Cinematic Rendering den großen Vorteil, dass Studenten und Auszubildende der verschiedenen Medizinberufe quasi in einer „Anatomie am Lebenden“ anatomische Besonderheiten und Krankheitsbilder virtuell erkunden können, die ihnen sonst verborgen geblieben wären.
Besucher des ECR 2019 können die 3D-Visualisierung klinischer Bilder mittels Cinematic Rendering auf der ersten Version der HoloLens in der Siemens Healthineers Digital Experience Hall erleben. Die Halle befindet sich direkt neben dem Eingang zum Austria Center Vienna und ist von Donnerstag, 28. Februar 2019, bis Samstag, 2. März 2019, jeweils von 10 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet. Zusätzlich gibt Siemens Healthineers auf Stand 511 in der ECR-Industrieausstellung in Halle Expo X5 einen breiten Überblick über seine aktuellen Digitalprodukte und alle Neuheiten für die medizinische Bildgebung.
